Trudy Slaght is a taper coach residing in Alberta, Canada, with a profound commitment to guiding individuals through successful medication tapering journeys. With a focus on data-driven strategies and meticulous planning, Trudy brings a wealth of expertise cultivated over 4 years of assisting others in their tapering endeavors.
Having personally undergone the intricate process of tapering off multiple psychiatric medications, Trudy’s own experiences have deeply informed her coaching approach. After enduring the challenges of abrupt discontinuation that led to prolonged withdrawal effects and a demanding recovery, Trudy adopted a more cautious approach for her subsequent tapering of the last two medications. Through diligent research and methodical implementation of a well-structured plan, she achieved a successful tapering outcome, minimizing withdrawal symptoms while effectively managing her responsibilities of full-time work and parenting.
Trudy’s final taper was completed in September 2019, marking a significant milestone in her journey. Since then, she has dedicated countless hours to educating and sharing insights with individuals who are embarking on their tapering quests. Notably, Trudy co-authored the chapter on Online Withdrawal Support in the book “Withdrawal from Prescribed Psychotropic Drugs,” published by Peter Lehmann Publishing.
An attentive and empathetic listener, Trudy places a high value on transparent communication. She firmly believes that with time and proper support, every individual can attain their medication tapering goals. Central to her philosophy is the importance of a well-structured plan, rooted in meticulous calculations and a comprehensive understanding of various medications’ effects. This foundation allows her to create tailored plans for each client, acknowledging the uniqueness of their tapering experiences while effectively minimizing symptomatology as the taper progresses.
Beyond her coaching endeavors, Trudy is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Management degree and is a devoted mother of three. Her leisure activities include nurturing her garden, embarking on backpacking adventures in the rocky mountains, and delving into the study of French as a second language.
Sessions with Trudy are for withdrawal coaching only. She cannot and will not serve as your medical provider. Upon booking, you will sign a “Coaching Agreement” where you must acknowledge that in working with you, Trudy serves solely as a coach, and in no other capacity.
